If you want to permanently, irrevocably, and silently (without confirmation dialog box) remove images from Lightroom, use the Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Delete (Windows) / ā + Option + Shift + Delete (Mac) keyboard combination. This deletes the files from disk, not just sending them to the Recycle Bin (or Trash Can, on Mac).
Go into Resource Monitor, click on the Disk tab and go to the second panel which lists all IO on your system. If you sort on the name it will group all filenames with the same drive letter together. I use one SSD for PS scratch, so easy to monitor. Try to open files in PS, make mods, save files and watch what happens.
D: - SSD - Lightroom catalogs & previews, Photoshop scratch disk. E: - fast, large conventional drive - image files. One of my requirements is that the non-technical user NOT have to move files (for example, images) from disk to disk on a regular basis.
10.4. Operating System. macOS 10.14 Mojave. Hello, I recently saw a video on YouTube stating that it is best if I store my Catalog Backup on a seperate drive from the drive where I keep my catalog. Currently I store my photos on 2 external hard drives and my catalog and the catalog backup on a 3rd. external hard drive sperate from where my
Lol Pheww! I just held down Opt + Cmd while I clicked on the Photoshop launch file and it gave me the option to change my scratch disk. It was set to HD2 (Hard Drive 2) so I changed it to Startup because I remember seeing my Illustratorās scratch disk was Startup. As soon as I changed it to Startup, Photoshop opened right up.
First, navigate over to the White Balance section in the Basic panel: Then click on the Dropper tool: And simply click on an area of your image thatās supposed to be a pure, neutral gray or white. Lightroom will do the rest of the work, instantly shifting your image so the colors are as accurate as possible.
Firstly, make sure when you open Photoshop to have your scratch disk set to the disk with the most amount of space. Large files will routinely take up more and more space as you use them. Adding layers will increase, exponentially, the scratch disk usage. If you cannot afford, or are unable to install, a new hard drive.
I use the SSD as my boot drive and have partitioned the 2 TB drive to create 4 scratch disks. I have 16 GB RAM. My main use of the system is for photo editing in Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5. I am totally confused about if it is best (in terms of speed) to use the SSD as the boot drive or the scratch disk for Photoshop.
If you have multiple drives on your Mac, you can change your Photoshop scratch disk location to a larger drive. More disk space can help with scratch disk errors ā and ensure better performance without sacrificing files. Hereās how to change the scratch disk in Photoshop: Open the Photoshop menu, click Preferences, and choose Scratch Disks.
Lightroom uses catalogs, while ON1 uses a database. Catalogs can be backed up or created as a āsnapshotā of all your edits at a given date, while ON1ās database is less versatile (more on that below). For backups and overall flexibility, Lightroom wins here. You donāt need to import photos to edit them in ON1.
