The US market M10 powered 318i was killed in 1986. The 325e was available from 1984-1986, after which the high performance 325i engine replaced the eta 6 in the luxury and sport models. For ’87 and ’88, the base model was the 325 with no suffix. It had 318i equipment levels combined with a six cylinder engine.

318i defintly has its ups and downs. Yes the engine is gutless, my car has been out dragged by a non vtec civic and a excel filled up with somans ahaha ( In a safe environment ofcourse ) , so yeah its slow, but the handling is superb, the engine is very very reliable.
Find out from a BMW dealer if your car is affected since it will need to have the mechanism replaced. BMW 3 Series 2.0 318i Sport Plus Edition Euro 5 (s/s) 4dr. 2012. 86,000 miles. £5,289.
The blue 318i it is. I travelled to the BMW dealership which was in another city 45km away. A short PDI and test drive followed. Car looked and felt perfect, almost as good as new. I checked the history of car via the RDW (RTO equivalent) as well as purchased a car vertical inspection report and everything checked out.
Back when German car naming schemes made sense, BMW’s model names were fairly easy to understand. For example, a 318i was a BMW 3-Series with a 1.8-liter engine and fuel injection. Six-cylinder models with BMW’s fantastic M20 engine included the 320, 323 and 325 models.
I'm thinking about the BMW Touring 318i instead of the sedan, due to more space, i thought it would only be slightly heavier, not that big of a difference in mileage with the same engine. Most of the available cars' mileage is between 125000 miles and 180000.
